Research in Lightweight Concrete
Our central technology platforms in lightweight concrete combine field experience with R&D research. All R&D work done at Phoenix SDS is firmly tested in the field at either our own lightweight concrete plants or at actual lightweight concrete project sites. This ensures that all our partners receive the most up-to-date technology with full field support.
Five key future issues
Our research strategy concentrates on major technology-driven issues of particular relevance to the future. We have  five growth issues that we are currently focusing our Development teams on: energy management, raw material change, nanotechnology, plant automation and biotechnology.
Five key future issues
In its research strategy Phoenix SDS concentrates major technology-driven issues of particular relevance to the future in five growth areas: energy management, raw material change, nanotechnology, plant automation and biotechnology.
Energy Management
With the focus in today market on energy conservation, Phoenix SDS is developing new technologies and equipment for use in lightweight concrete plant at lightweight concrete sites. For example, normally lightweight cast-in-place concrete is pumped to various floors in both low and high rise buildings. We have refined a delivery procedure/ system whereby the lightweight concrete can be poured down to various floors – saving the cost of pumping.
Raw Material Change (Lightweight Concrete Mix Designs)
Our researchers are engaged in identifying new raw materials that utilizate renewable resources.

Nanotechnology
Phoenix SDS is evaluating chemical nanotechnology. With Nanotechnology, we wish to evaluate what the advantages over conventional products and processes are, and use these materials to further enhance our product range - providing additional benefits to Lightweight Concrete.

Automation (and System design)
Any good product needs an equally good production system. At Phoenix SDS we are continually working to provide the best plant design and equipment – taking advantage of both automation (where needed) and new technology bases.

Biotechnology

Phoenix SDS is constantly evaluating different natural and synthetic bases to see if these new materials can enhance either the properties of lightweight concrete or make it easier to use.
